Not Just Another Nicaragua Travel Guide

Seminal travel guide
This is the best guide book in the history of the universe. These guys are the alpha and omega of the tourism-with-an-attitude/solidarity of the Sandinista years. From photos of the Clash to Omar Cabezas throwing baseballs, "Tricky Dick" Nixon and advice to carry your own rum to Corn Island, this book freezes a moment in time better than any other publication out there--at least until I finish my novel about the ex-pat hallucinating that he was Daniel Ortega's bodyguard, the campesino joining the contras because the FSLN introduced too many acronyms into society, and Elliott Abrams sticking pins into his Miguel D'Escoto obea doll . . . mandatory for any Central America-phile.

Nurses Drug Guide 1998 (1998 Edition)

Nurse Friendly drug reference
This is or seems to be the newest version of the Drug reference known to me as the Govoni & Hayes "Drugs and Nursing Implications" reference book, which I searched for by name unsuccessfully for weeks. In my opinion this is THE most complete and easy to use drug reference. And it is now available in a much easier to carry around smaller size. I strongly recommend this for Nursing Students because of the way it is formatted. Drugs are listed alphabetically by generic name which is how most hospital pharmacies dispense them.

Our Father: Public Prayers for All Occasions
Published in Paperback by Standard Publishing Co. (December, 1995)
Authors: J. Michael Shannon, J. Mihael Shannon, and Michael Shannon
Average review score:

Clear, Solidly Evangelical Prayers for the Pulpit
The prayers in this book should be well received by all Bible-believing congregations. They are clear, to the point, and God-centered.

The only negative about the book is that it is short. Highly recommended!

The Price of Fear (Darkman No 2)
Published in Paperback by Pocket Books (June, 1994)
Authors: Randall Boyll and Scott Shannon
Average review score:

GREAT NOVEL! RECOMMENDED FOR FANS OF HORROR/ACTION!
This was a great book. It only took me a few days to read. I could not put it down. It is great in scares, which usually a book can not get me to do. The violence to this book is very graphic. When innocent people died, I got scared, but when bad guys died, I felt proud of what Darkman did. Part of the novel is about a crazy man who burns women, who he thinks are witches at the stake. When he tries to do that to Julie Hastings (Darkman's previous girlfriend), Darkman sticks his fingers through his neck and rips his head off. That awful man deserved it. The characters in the novel you grow to hate, get what they deserve. This is a great book of action, suspence, and horror. Read it!

The Punishment
Published in Paperback by Fawcett Books (May, 1982)
Author: Doris Shannon
Average review score:

The Punishment - A Story of Terror
I read The Punishment over ten years ago and to this day it still remains fresh in my mind. This book was a story about a troubled young woman who's mother takes her away from her present surroundings to a lighthouse on a small island off the coast of Maine. The lighthouse is owned by the mother's family and thus the story begins to unfold. The family is a bit strange at first but as the young girl spends time with them, they grow stranger and stranger and each one is hiding a secret. The young woman is on the edge in coping with her own problems that drove her to attempt suicide and as she learns more and more about the strange family, she begins to see things that aren't visible to other family members. There are so many twists and turns to this story you won't know the truth until the end of the book. It is a haunting, bone chilling story that will make you want to read it again and again. I myself thoroughly enjoyed the book and couldn't put it down until I was finished. Even then, it stayed fresh in my mind for years. I think other people will enjoy it as well because there is terror and surprise around every corner.

Such a good adaptation of that wonderful classic. Being cassette didn't detract from the wonderful acting and brilliant writing.

Rags and Old Iron
Published in Hardcover by Wildside Pr (October, 2002)
Author: Lorelei Shannon
Average review score:

Original, Disturbing, and Well-Written
This is Lorelei Shannon's first published novel, though she's had short stories in many anthologies, and a short story collection, Vermifuge, and Other Toxic Cocktails. It tells the story of Amy, a college student who is having horrifying dreams and visions. She thinks she might be going insane, but when terrible things begin happening to her friends (and enemies!), she realizes that something from her childhood is stalking her; something she had blocked from her mind. Enter Louis, a handsome young Voudun priest whose mother battled this same evil entity years before. He takes Amy and her two best friends on a dangerous journey to confront Rags, Amy's magical childhood companion and nemesis, who is now the pawn (but not exactly the INNOCENT pawn...) of a conspiracy of evil with Amy as its target.

This is the première literary offering of a truly wonderful writer. I hope to read lots more from Lorelei Shannon.

The Resurrection of Samuel Clemens
Published in Paperback by Great Unpublished (November, 2001)
Author: Clay Shannon
Average review score:

The Author Speaks
My futuristic, optimistic novel should be appealing to anyone who wonders what life could be like if there were no more war, poverty, disease, or death, and where a reunification of people with their (formerly) dead loved ones is possible.

Additionally, serious Twain fans (Twainiacs) should find the book interesting, as countless references to Twain's life and times, as well as allusions (in addition to numerous direct quotations) to his writings are made throughout.

Rival Passion
Published in Paperback by PublishAmerica, Inc. (February, 2002)
Author: Shannon Honea
Average review score:

This is absolutely the BEST!
Rival Passion by Shannon Honea is an excellent and exciting story set in the 1800's in New Orleans. This book grabs the reader and doesn't let go! When Johanna O'Connor meets her fathers' handsome and sucessful new partner, Christian Stevenson, emotions run so high the reader can feel them. Johanna loses her heart to Christian only to fall victim to the perverted Edward Smith and her once best friend April Bourtons' malicious plan to acquire her fortune. The authors ability to bring this book to an exciting conclusion is excellent. Now, I'm anxiously awaiting her next book.
